Here are listed prior projects and their implementations from prior years.
Project 0 - Introductory Lab Legged Locomotion
The intro project is here to teach you the basic skills you will use in the class for the main projects we will do later in the semester. As such, you have fewer deliverables but we anticipate the load on students to be similar -- you will be learning a lot of different things quickly.
Your task? In this lab, you will compete against other groups to design, build, and test a robot made of foam core and dynamixel motors that makes the fastest lap around a track.

Each team’s robot is required to reach a sequence of waypoints, in a specified order, while keeping a laser pointer oriented along the positive Y-axis and projecting a dot on a projection screen. Sensing and waypoint information is provided to the robot via the network and is derived from a computer vision system running in real-time (supplied by the professor).

Project 2 - Robot Arm
Each team is required to build a robot arm which is capable of drawing on a piece of paper within a 1 ft.³ workspace. The position and orientation of the paper will not be known in advance except for the following properties: (1) the paper will be a standard sheet of letter paper, laid on a rigid backing, entirely within the workspace; (2) the paper will face upwards or at most 5° downwards. (3) the paper will face within 90° of a designated “front” direction.
At the start of operation, each team may manually guide the pen any positions and/or orientations they may wish in the workspace, including bringing the pen to known points on the paper. This manual guidance may also be performed physically, by moving the robot arm by hand. Each team will be required to draw a four by four inch square, with sides parallel to the edges of the paper. In addition, the instructor will provide a sequence of pen strokes as a list of two-dimensional positions relative to the corner of the page. The robot arm must draw these pen strokes on the page.

Project 0- Design Typologies
The designs for the Project P0 assignment from the year 2012 to 2019 are classified into the four types - 2Wheeled Gorilla Style Robot, Gorilla Style Robot, Inchworm Style Robot, and 2013 Single Box Style Robot. Most of the designs follow Gorilla Style mechanism, while the Inchworm style robot has also been designed by most of the teams.
